Surgery Tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Wow I just can't believe my surgery date is TOMORROW!!  Time for my revision.  Lap-band being removed (after 8 years) and revision to gastric bypass.  I'm pretty nervous but hopeful and happy.  I'm prepared and have done everything I can do so now it's in my surgeons hands.  Please say a prayer for me!  Thanks, Karianne

Oh wow thats great!  My insurance wouldn't pay for a sleeve- I can't wait to hear about your journey!!   You'll do great, good luck!

Hi Theresa,

I don't mind sharing.  It's been a crazy year. Up until this point all has been wonderful with my banding journey. I was banded back in April of 2004. Lost all my weight in 2 yrs. No unfills or overfills. I was sitting happy at 2.9cc in my band and no fill additional fill needed in the last 4 yrs. I got a TT in 2008 and honestly I have just been enjoying life. That was until April of last year when I woke up one morning with absolutely no restriction. Damn I knew something wasn't right and thought it was a possible leak. Called my NP and we decided that since I had been at goal for 5 yrs unless I was in pain I didn't have to come in right away. Well fast forward to Sept and up 30 lbs I decided to call and make an appointment. Went in and as I assumed there was no liquid in my band. So tried to see if they could see a leak under radiology and they couldn't which means it is a slow slow leak.  

So my options were a complete band removal and replace the band or revise to gastric bypass (my insurance doesn't cover the sleeve).  I knew I was very lucky with my band having such a wonderful experience BUT I was also cautious about getting another one put in.  I was honestly afraid I wouldn't get the right restriction and the follow up care is exhausting in the first few years.  I know I can lose and maintain so I feel with the gastric bypass I can get good results and maintain.  So here I am with my surgery tomorrow already!

Good Luck Karianne!! Small worls as we have the same Dr.  And if I can add to your post, I'm having my revision next Thursday- 4/12.
I've had the band for 4 yrs with little success even though I have tried, fills, unfills etc....

Anywho, you will do great!
