To be honest, I've blamed the vagal nerve for five years...  There's just no.... definitive way to FIND an issue.  I asked my surgeon once and he laughed at me.

Where's that forum?  You can URL it's not a WL site.

its www.coping-with-epilepsy.com - the fellow who started it does not have E, his wife does.  I'm on there under the same pseud - Nikkal.

it can frustrate me to no end - one moderator there is convinced that she cured her daughter with diet and biofeedback, but the girl still has catamenial seizures...she posts a lot of stuff from junk sites like mercola & 'natural news', but mostly the regulars are knowledgeable and supportive.

im on lunch so i only have a sec - but i HAD to comment when i saw ur post because i had this happen to me.

when i was over 250 pounds, i had NORMAL blood pressure.  when i lost all my weight, my blood pressure bottomed out.  my DR suspected addison's disease (characterized by extremely low blood pressure) & i went for testing, etc.  (treatment is either A. life-time daily doses of steriods which i tried & went off of since they made me feel hungry when ive NEVER been hungry since my surgery otherwise or B. life-time daily salt tablets & a high salt diet which i do.)

i found it so odd at the time.  obesity had not only HIDDEN my condition, it had, in a way, TREATED my condition (by raising my blood pressure to normal).

whereas most "normal" obese people have high blood pressure due to their obesity, my own obesity had raised my blood pressure as well without me or my DRs knowing since it just raised my blood pressure to normal.

i still find that ironic to this day...

just figured id share

Wow, I'm glad your doctors were able to figure this out and that you have it under control.

me 2!  (i didnt think it was a big deal since i had ZERO "symptoms" other than the extremely low blood pressure - but apparently extremely low blood pressure, im talkin figures like 40s/50s can lead to organ failure, so i really down the salt! lol)

I developed seizures 1.5 years following my RNY surgery.  I have no idea if they are a result of the surgery though because I also developed 3 meningiomas (benign brain tumors).  Did the RNY cause these tumors?  I doubt it - but they say it's a possibility that the extreme weight loss caused a resurgence of the tumors.
I had my first brain surgery in 2006 to remove a meningioma - that was before the RNY -- but I didn't experience seizures at all during that time.
The tumors were removed last September; however, I continued to experience seizures.  During my brain surgery, they also attempted to remove the part of my brain that causes my seizures (the focus); however, they were unable to pinpoint the exact location.
I take a very large dose of Keppra and Lamictal ODT daily, now.  My seizures are well-controlled, for  now (knock on wood).

Almost everyone who has RnY doesn't develop seizures. It's pretty rare. But not unheard of.

I have had every "seizure test" known to man..all have come back "negative". My very wise neurologist links them to my migraine headaches...for NOW.. He currently has me in a "personal study" about RNY/seizures.

My "brain farts" started around year 6 post RNY. I don't have full on grand mal seizures.

Are  they related to my RNY and weight loss?

????

I take 2 anti-seizure meds routinely, BUT they also FDA "off label" aprroved as migraine prevention meds, and I def DO have migraines, so my docs don't have to label me "seizure disorder"

Often times when I have a "brain fart" my sugar is exceptionally low. As you probably know, Reactive Hypogycemia is being talked about more and more in the RNY world
