They have been doing this surgery since the 1960's and laparoscopically since 1993 with well over one million performed in the U.S. alone.  So, this 50+ year old surgery is not new.  We are not the testers.  Our job is to present accurate information to physicians and let them determine what is a seizure versus a hypoglycemic coma.  All of those who were rumored to have had seizures attributed to RNY all had negative EEG's, Proton scan, etc.  The studies all show no link to seizures.

I am not saying a link doesn't exist.  However, your post was suggesting that it was rare not to have seizures from RNY, yet you relied on patient testimonials on Google.  How many patients reported this?  There are over 60,000 lap-RNY's performed every year in the U.S. alone and yet you read accounts from how many people?  That is like the parents of children with autism blaming vaccines for causing autism, when the only "evidence" is that autism coincidentally presents itself during a child's life at about the same age children receive vaccines.  The medical community has consistently proved no link to autism and vaccines, yet some parents wanted to believe what they read on Google.  They chose not to vaccinate their children.  The result?  Return of the mumps, epidemics of whooping cough, killing babies!

To clarify, you didn't ask if anyone had seizures attributed to gastric bypass.  You asked "IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAD THE SURGERY AND DID'NT DEVELOP SEIZURES."  Then you stated it was a relatively new surgery and we were the "testers."  I merely answered your questions and statements with facts rather than fiction.

This person is clearly not interested in any sort of rational discussion on seizures or vaccines. It's too bad your well written and argued responses are falling on deaf ears. I'm going to bookmark it though for future reference!

I think you need to be careful about what you read from google.  anyone can make a website on anything and have it come up high with key words.  doesn't make it fact.

This is an excellent summation of the current research Chris, couldn't have said it better myself!
