So over the moderator police saying what we can and cannot say.  What happened to free speech.  Makes me not want to even visit these boards anymore.

I've gotten moderated lately for "personal attacks" for telling someone they were being overly dramatic and sensitive when they were calling me a ***** and all kinds of curse words! Ridiculous. BUT there is no free speech since it's not our website. Their board, their choice of content. If we want free speech we can do it on our own blogs.

 Good Morning SleeveRockn Chic!!!

I am sorry you were moderated... it stinks!  But, when we sign on to this forum (and most other forums for that matter) we agree to abide by their rules... it goes for everybody.  Don't feel picked on, it happens to most at some time or another!

Please don't leave... stay and hang out with us!  If you need to vent, find a buddy on here and private message them... we all have to vent at some time or another!

On a positive note... I saw your profile pics of before and your current status... WOW  ... your doing great!!!

I can't wait to get my surgery so I can join you on the loser's bench!!!

SRC you just need to learn to make a moderation proof post. Take note:

Topic-The new OH rocks!

Wow the mods have done an AWESOME job in "cleaning up" OH.  I now fell "safe" on here. This is how it should have been all along. Oh and btw..........I love my lap-band!   I know it's just a "tool" and not a "magic bullet'.

My life is now complete with my Lap-Band and the NEW AND IMPROVED OH!

When I have *****ed about the lack of freedom of speech on OH, I have been told by some who say they are wiser than I that freedom of speech is not covered on Internet Boards. I do not agree w/ this statement and wonder if anyone has moved to push the issue in the court system.
I know I post a lot of stuff on FB that could be said to be inappropriate or could incite angry debates (Politics tend to do that.) And it is allowed there.
I think more it is that OH wants to try and keep the site to those who think WLS is the panacea to the obese and once you get thinner - you will be a wonderful, mentally and healthy well person who will only think happy thoughts. (URGH - Stepford Wives running through my head!)

Having admin'ed and owned several forums, they are right...free speech does not CURRENTLY exist on privately owned forums...they are not democracies but autocracies and whoever owns them makes the rules. However, it is headed that way in some cases, very specific ones.

The US SC in Marsh v. Alabama decided that the 1st AM can bind a private entity. Other rulings may be centered on state constitutions, see Pruneyard v. Robbins.

If the private entity is a "public fora", it may be bound by the 1st AM, again very fact specific, see:

http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-6th-circuit/1033262.html

A person can be banned as long as it is not for a discriminatory reason, race, color, etc.

With that said tho, a GOOD forum will moderate with a fair hand and as little as possible.

Politics AND religion are both hot topics...if handled properly, discussions can be had. :)
