Would like to know when I can eat mashed potatoes?

I am in stage 2, day 10.  Is that too soon?  Been eating applesauce and greek yogurt, plus liquids.

Also, bought Bob Evans sour cream and chives mashed potatoes.  Are those ok and how do you thin then out so the stomach pouch will digest them?

Hummmm..... did your dr. approve them?  I was told never to eat potatoes again.
For the mush stage I made a bean soup in the crockpot and ate a lot of that.  I also found some lowfat low sugar cottage cheese and ate that.  you can mix pumpkin pie spice in it too.

My doctor did say pototoes are ok in stage 2, did not specify what kind of potatoes, but mashed potatoes would be the softest.

Do you have the receipe for the bean soup you ate in the crockpot?

Did you have to puree the beans or did you just chew them up real good.  I will eat lowfat sugar free cottage cheese normally with pineapples, but can't do that.  I will try the pumpkin pie spice mix instead. Thanks.

when you move into mushy food you can eat them, but be careful, they are super high in sugar and carbs. when i was newly post op they gave me dumping syndrome that lasted for hours, i think i ate mashed potatoes 2 times before i stopped eating them, to this day ANYTHING potatoes still makes me dump, i have to keep my potato intake very very minimal.

Stage 2 on my paperwork from the doctor  says that is 8 days after surgery to 6 weeks.  It states I can have no sugar addeed soft foods and protein shakes.  Oatmeal was on the list and put me in serious pain for about 5 hours and I ended up getting sick.

I'm going to hazard a guess that if oatmeal made you sick, mashed potatoes will, too - so please be careful. I am almost four years out, and still get sick from oatmeal and mashed potatoes.

Thanks for letting me know. I don't want to get sick like that again.

The diet plan for my doctor says creamy foods start on day 10 so that's probably the stage you are at. The examples I have in my "Bible" are as follows:

- low-fat, low sugar yogurt
      -Kroger Carb Master
      -Fiber One yogurt by Yoplait
- scrambled eggs
- soft cooked eggs
- egg substitute
- low-fat or fat free cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
- sugar-free custard and ouddings
- protein shakes
- creamy mashed potatoes

I would not recommend the Bob Evans potatoes because I am guessing they have added fat and sugar in them. If they don't then they should be fine.

I have the sleeve, but i was told only to have instant mashed potatoes because any prepared mashed potatoes have added milk and butter.
