I'll be finding my caffeine elsewhere from now on
Hubby made a pot of coffee and it smelled so good, so I did 1/3 coffee 1/3 water and 1/3 chocolate protein shake. It was tasty, but I'm paying for it now. Ugh.

What do you mean you are paying for it? I drink at least 1/2 pot of coffee a day and have had coffee since one day post-op. My husband got coffee in the hospital. I would no****er it down though. I am actually drinking a 20 oz mug of it right now! Coffee, 1 tablespoon SF Salted Caramel syrup and 1/3 cup of unsweetened almond milk. YUMMMMM!

Just because you can handle it doesn't mean somebody else can :)

Some people have a problem with coffee after RNY, VSG, and DS. Even though fluids don't spend much time in the pouch, any kind of coffee made my pouch (which is otherwise pretty sturdy) burn like crazy after just 2 or 3 drinks. That lasted for well over 4 years. A year or so ago, I tried some again about a year or so ago (good thing I wasn't a coffee drinker pre-op!) and found that I can now handle it fine.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Yeah, 5 days out seems a bit soon to have coffee. I waited 4 months. I am 5 years out and drink a ton now with no problems.
