Curious about cals, fats, carbs and protein
I am just starting mushies and at the moment my surgeon has not set any particular limits on cals, fats, carbs, and protein, other than i need to get 66gms of protein by hook or by crook. I'm getting between 350 & 600 cals, 16-25gms fat, 4-35gms carbs, and 36-68gms protein (from food) .
How does this match up to everyone else?
My surgeon told us to focus on protein, making healthy choices in an overall balanced diet, and not to worry about the rest, that the rest would fall into line. Of course, there were the obvious guidelines about what "healthy choices" meant... Avoiding fried foods, white flour products, etc... but your body needs some fat (e.g., for organ function, to avoid dry skin, to avoid constipation) and carbs (e.g., for brain function and energy level) to function properly, so limiting them too severely adds stress to a body that is already under stress from the surgery itself and the drastic drop in nutrition.
I have never counted carbs, fat, or calories (except to gauge where I am a couple of times a year) and I am maintaining my weight loss at 6 years out.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I am six weeks out and my doctor also just says more than 60 g of protein. I need more guidelines than that or I may find a way to have 1000 calories ;) so my self-imposed numbers (based on my research and let me stress this is just me) is every day to have 60+ g of protein, more than 64 oz of water, around 600 calories and less than 20 g of carbs. I know the first year is the key year for losing and I loooooove carbs so I steer clear completely. And these are working for me.
Weight Dec 2 - 369
Weight Dec 16 (surgery date) - 351
Weight yesterday - 313 :)
That was liquids for the entire month of December and now lean proteins and no carbs for the month of Jan :)
