What to Eat? What to Lose?

Hi Everyone,

I am just over 2 weeks out from RNY. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride but getting better each day.  I have just started my Stage 4 diet and am at a loss on what to try and eat.  I am afraid to eat anything!  Suggestions??

Also, I am so unsure of what to expect for wt loss.  I know it isn't set in stone anywhere but feel what I have lost so far is not great.  I am having what is probably an irrational fear despite this it won't come off. The 2 week mark had me down to 195..a 10 lb loss.  Normal?  What should I expect as I start adding solids? Freaking out a bit....

We are all different, but i enjoyed seeing what the OH Weight Loss Planner predicted.

There is no standard Stage 4.  Your surgeon should have given you a list of what foods you can eat in that stage.

The weight loss planner on OH is excellent for predicting what you will lose.  This is a generic version that I use.

Month 1 - 20 pounds

Month 2-6 - 10 pounds a month

Month 7-12 - 5 pounds a month

There is no normal really... some lose fast then slow down, some lose slow and steady, some lose in spurts big drops then nothing for weeks, then jumps again. We are all as different as snowflakes :)

Concentrate on making life changes... moving your body every day, drinking water, taking your vitamins, making healthy eating choices, developing a healthier relationship w/ food (being afraid to eat isn't healthy BTW), working on all the emotional/head stuff the why's of why you gained weight... those are the only things we have control over... the scale will do its thing. Advice... for awhile weigh-in once a week or even longer... you will be happily surprised most weigh-ins and work on the important stuff.

Best wishes,

~Michelle "Shelly"
