eating protein

Did any of you start trying to eat like you would after your surgery, before you had surgery?  Just more quantity?  That's what I'm doing the past few days and I've noticed that as I'm getting protein I'm not nearly as hungry.  Anyone else notice this?  It's also helped curb my sweet cravings so far... It's helping me stay in the correct mindset.  I have a while to go before my surgery, Hoping for this summer.

About 2 months before surgery I decided that I was going to swap out "meals I eat alone" (breakfast and lunch most days) for protein shakes.  It was surprisingly easy!  I didn't feel deprived or that I was missing out, I didn't have horrible cravings, and I lost around 20 pounds.  It made me feel strong. :)

I started to cut my food much smaller, avoid drinking with meals, bite/chew/swallow before the next bite and focus on protein first about 6 weeks before surgery.

I lost 18 pounds in those 6 weeks, kicked the sweet beast and was well prepared for post op life.

I did! and it was kinda cool knowing what i was looking forward to. It was the second to last part in breaking up with food dependence.

Give it a try!

Yes, I've done that, I switched to a more protein based meal & cut back on carbs and cut out sweets to the point that I'm not craving it anymore. I also tried to get in the habit of not drinking with my meals, still have to work on that, rt now I'm on the liquid diet part of my weight loss journey cuz I have a surgery date in April, but even b4 the liquid diet I started to lose weight, if I had exercised too I probably would've lost more, still working on that too. LOL

Working out is hard, but it becomes addictive when you see results.  I enjoy the gym for the most part, but it hurts to workout much right now with my joints and asthma.

Yes! Getting an early start is a great way to have post-op success. Some people gain weight before surgery because they want to eat everything, and it usually ends up badly for them.
