Struggling 3 yers out
You don't give your height. Is your body comfortable? Did you lose too much? What does your doctor say about it? Are you exercising? Things that I can suggest are to keep a log of what you eat in a day. Make a menu at the first of the week and shop for those items. Keep your mind busy on other things and try to find a support group. Let us know when you find your way back.
Did your surgeon explain to you that malabsorption goes away and your body learns how to absorb calories again? A 20 pound regain is pretty normal at three years out. That is the reason why you need to continue to lose weight even after you meet your goal weight.
The only way to get rid of that 20 pounds is by eating less food. Determine your goal weight and multiply that by 10 to get the calories per day for that weight. Then subtract 500 calories a day from that number to lose a pound a week. In 20 weeks, the weight will be gone.
I'm in the same boat! Yesterday was my 4 year anniversary and I've gained around 15 pounds. It's driving me crazy! I started doing kick boxing and going to the gym for weights back in September and was working out 4-5 days a week and didn't lose a pound. What am I doing wrong? If anyone reads this Ill gladly take any feedback that can help me out!
Sorry about the regain. Exercise is great for health, but if you want to lose, eating less is the only way it's going to happen. Do you weigh and track your food? It might be a good thing to try, just to see where you are at.

Just passed my 3 year anniversay last September. I had gotten pretty good at tracking things in my head so I wasn't keeping a daily log. But I suddenly (or so it seemed) picked up 5lbs in early November. Yikes!! I didn't do much with it until after I got through the holiday. By then I had picked up another 2lbs.
In January, I started tracking daily again and found I was tracking my protein and caloric intake fairly accurately. But I was surprised how many carbs had crept back into my diet.
Started cutting into those and it helped a lot. I took off the 5lbs pretty quickly after making adjustments. The 2lbs have lingered but I am ok with that.
It has just gotten so much easier to eat some things at this point that it can really get away from you if you aren't very vigilent. So if you aren't tracking food intake that's where I would start. Get some idea of what those numbers look like and see if you can make adjustments.
