Surgery might be postponed

I am supposed to have my DS on May 8. I had my lab draw today and my WBC are elevated. I have to wait to hear back from my surgeon, but they might postpone surgery. I will be so devastated.  Anyone else have WBC that are always running high? Mine have been up and down for months. They will be high and then back normal the next lab draw.
