Does anyone know what the name is of the bacteria the surgeon tests for prior to surgery?  Supposedly, people that have a certain type of bacteria in their gut are more susceptable (sp?) to worse bacterial infection prior to surgery.  I was wondering what the name of the bacteria is or the name of the test.

You may be referring to MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylo****us aureous).

Many surgeons test for H-pylori before surgery, which is easily cured with antibiotics. Perhaps that ias what they are testing for.
