Anyone else have post-op pain problem?

I am 22 days post-op after having a RNY.  While the surgery went well and there were no complications to speak of, I'm having horrible pain on my left side.  From my belly button to my left incision, my skin almost feels like it's been burned.  When I bend certain ways or sit straight up, my skin feels like it's on fire.  It also feels like when you run and your side gets a cramp in it and it burns.  It hurts to wear any type of pants (even loose yoga pants) and half of the time my underwear hurt!  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

If you're in that kind of pain, I'd suggest calling your surgeon's office, they can diagnose you better than a bunch of well-meaning strangers on the Internet :)

I had a lot more pain than I expected-especially in the abdominal wall muscles. It got drastically better at 4 weeks-then completely gone by 6 weeks

Thank you for your reply. I ended up calling the doctor's office yesterday to see if this is normal. I was told because they cut muscles and nerves during the surgery, people may experience muscle or nerve ending pain. Of all the issues I anticipated, nerve ending and muscle pain was not one of them.

Im glad to know that it got better after four weeks as I will hit four weeks this week. I was told yesterday, depending on the person, it could take up to six months to heal!!

Thank you!

Nerves can take up to 6 months to completely heal but it gets dramatically better at 4-6 weeks. The sutures that might be irritating muscle and nerve tissue starts to dissolve soon

Thanks Ginger.  It's good to know I'm not nuts and the pain I'm feeling is real.  I'm praying things get better soon.  The pain is enough to drive someone mad.
