Good afternoon all!

I am having my RNY on Monday. my husband and I are trying to get our boys to the beach for a few days later this summer. We have so much going on over the next few months that it looks like we are going to have to block out a few days in July. Should I be feeling completely up to par about 8 weeks from my procedure?

When did you all physically feel your best? I would think 8 weeks is plenty of time but then I hear some people say it was several weeks before they could get out and do a lot of activity.  Any input would be most appreciated. TY...TY!

I could have happily gone on vacation the week after surgery, but I am someone who just gets on with things.    I really think it depends on the sort of person you are (barring any medical complications of course).

I was eating a "normal" RNY diet from about 3 weeks - so you certainly should be by 8 weeks ...

I had also lost quite a bit of weight by 8 weeks (50lbs i**** was a long time ago so my memory is a bit blurry) so this will give you more freedom to do "stuff" with your children and husband on vacation.

After 5 weeks, I went to Vegas for the weekend, and I was fine. And I know I felt completely back to normal (energy-wise) by week 8.

You might be a little tired at times so don't over do it while your there. Went to beach at 7 weeks and had a great time just needed to be mindful of liquids since it is easy to get distracted. Have fun when you go

You should be fine. I was traveling a month out, and had no problems. Just take your vitamins and protein powder along- I used and still use a Blender Bottle.

I was feeling pretty decent 8 weeks post op.  My only word of caution is vacation eating.  You want to be very mindful of what you eat and don't experiment too much so you're not spending your vacation suffering.

Heather,

No worries you will do great. You have a good support system in your husband and here.

Good luck Monday,

Robin
