Pain Meds Question HELP Needed.--2+yrs out

I had 4 teeth out; due to my fillings having fallen out all within the same week (weird). Anyway, the teeth were bad and crumbling, so I had to get them removed. My problem is that hydrocodone pre-surgery never worked for me, and that is what they gave me. So I need to call them today and see if they will give me something else. I CANNOT take coedeine (I tried that after surgery and OMG my heart raced for a long time and had a hard time breathing)....anyway, do I ask them for liquid pain meds? I am in such pain and don't know what else to do....Help please.

Tell them what you've written here and they'll be able to make the best choice of what to prescribe for you.

I hope they can relieve my pain somehow. I just was wondering if there was something I need to make sure they know. Do I have to have a liquid? I know no time-released meds or NSAIDs.

I am headed out (it's over an hour away)

Thanks,
Bren

You don't need a liquid. Otherwise, you're correct. Good luck.

They believe I have inflammed muscles that work my jaw; caused from TMJ. I have never in my life had problems with TMJ. Now he thinks that is the issue; cause all areas of the extractions have good clotting and even though red, they are not infected. So he up'd the same medicine and gave me more. I have to do stretching exercises for the jaw; but since I cannot take any anti-inflammatory medicine because of the RNY gastric Bypass, it may take some time to get over the pain, He said, "Well, what pain medicine works for you?" How would I know! I haven't been sick or needed anything since I had my insurance! Please pray this pain goes away quickly. He said I could use hot wet compresses for my jaws (how do I do that and sit and do my school work on the computer? Any ideas?

Tramadol is my go-to pain med when I need something stronger than tylenol.

Try calling your pharmacist and tell them the problem and ask what you might take. I can't take codeine or vicadin but I can take oxycodone. Your dentist should be more aware of what you could take but if he's gonna be a jerk you'll have to take some steps yourself, good luck being in pain is no way to spend your time.

Tramadol? Vicodin? Dilaudid?  I have VSG and I can take all of these.  None of them are NSAIDS so you should be able to take them although Vicodin is similar to Percocet(oxycodone) so it may not work for you.

I have had severe mouth pain due to a failed root canal and deep infection so you have my sympathy.  Hope you feel better very soon.

Michele
