It takes 45 minutes every poop

Seriously. Is this the case with anyone else? If I think I'm done, I have to run right back in there. Is this normal? Six years out from RNY.

No, of course it's not normal.  Sounds like you are very constipated.  I use Miralax to help with that.

No! Not normal.  Do you mean you are constipated or the opposite? Whichever, something needs to change! Your diet, the amount of fluid you are drinking, or you need a supplement to break the cycle.

I will often go 2 or 3 times in the morning.   I'm not someone who sits in there reading, FB'ing etc (ewwwww) so I feel it's because I will go, get up and do something and then go again!

I've never thought it meant I had a problem

I sometimes go several times but I don't have to "run back in".

No, it's not constipation. Just....going. Seems to take forever to empty the bowels. I may try a few things like probiotics and more water.

You are never going to absorb food like before surgery, so that malabsorbed food takes up more space when it comes out.  I don't stay in the bathroom, but realize I will have to go back two or three times in the morning before I am finished for the day.

I usually go when I first wake up and then about 30 minutes later I am back in the bathroom.  Each time in the bathroom is just a couple of minutes though.  This is my new normal since about a year out from surgery.

That sounds normal to me, but I am prep with IBS. I asked my surgeon if RNY would help or exacerbate the IBS and she said it depends on the person...
