Energy Level

I am 3 weeks out of RNY surgery and am doing pretty well, recovery wise.  Today is my first day back to work.  A full day of work and then teaching tonight all the U.  My question is how soon will I regain my energy level?  It is like a roller coaster right now...

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Congratulations on  your surgery  Everyone is different, it took me 3 months but others feel better after a few weeks.  Just know each day you will feel better and better. Make sure  you get your protein in and we look forward to your updates

If you have not done so, post this on the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum (RNY)

Well by 3 weeks out for me I was still pretty tired and sluggish I know if I had went back to work around that time I wouldn't have made it through the day! But it will get better, you will notice week by week how your energy improves just keep on top of your protein, vitamins and water intake that's most important right now.  Everyone is different but I'll say I'm 100% back to normal as of last week, so for me it took around two months to feel completely myself again.

I went back to teaching after 2 weeks but was exhausted. I started to feel pretty good by 6 weeks.

It can take a while to eliminate the anesthesia from our bodies;  keep up hydration, make sure you take your vits and supplements, nap as needed.

I was a month post op before I felt normal. Make sure you are taking your vitamins!
