I was curious if you take additional calcium when  you use these patches?  I'm assuming I would still have to take additional iron in the evening.  I would like to hear some direct experience.

Hi hl1524

This is my "personal" experience.  I had RNY over 10 years ago. It's critical to take all your vitamins, if you don't in the long run you can have some bad consequences.  I was good for a few years but "HATED" pills. It got to where I was gagging them down and I have to be honest I didn't take them like I should.  Last year, I started having B and D issues and took prescription D pills and B shots.

I saw PatchMD here on OH and wondered if they would work.  I have been using the B12, Vitamin D3 with Calcium and MultiVitamin patches for 9 months.  My blood work has been perfect with the exception of iron.  I am taking an ounce of liquid iron in the evening with orange juice and will be having blood test next month.  Fingers crossed my iron will be back to good levels.  It must be working as my hair for the first time since I had surgery is getting thick on the top.  WooHoo!

I was previously taking a bit more iron that what is inlcuded in the patch, so, yes, I have been taking some additional iron. I have had some bine loss integr last couple of years, too, and was taking 2000 mg of calcium, so I have been taking one additional dose of calcium as well.  I just had labs drawn today, so I am hoping that maybe there is enough difference in the transdermal absorption that I won't have to continue taking additional iron or calcium.

We shall see in a day or two!
