I like that fact that she never gives up-she is a fighter and she continues to talk about and use her struggles to help others. I wish her all the best!

Now, a year and 3 months after surgery I can see very easy how the weight can come back on. Life, anxieties, issues and problems get in the way-especially our old mindset and way of thinking- but we HAVE to keep fighting with this second chance and not give up. I haven't lost any weight in a few months but I haven't gained. And I am down a size.

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week but what scares me is how sometimes I'm back to thinking about food like I used to. Almost as if I want to test myself with food I don't even like. Especially this time of year a lot of bait for us food addicts are out there-especially at work!

When you first get the sleeve, and the weight rapidly falls off you think about health, training, nutrition and so forth. When the weight loss starts to retard even though you are working your butt off, it's so easy to relapse, so much easier to roll downhill thn to walk uphill! So WLS'ers we gotta catch ourselves-NEVER AGAIN!

The reality is that we can blow up again, as this woman has so painfully and courageously shown. So if you gotta keep going back to the basics then do it. Food does not have to be so important, or a priority, but just fuel and nutrition as it was meant to be.

Day by day may be a struggle, but day by day is also a daily step toward a healthier life! Hang in there Carnie!

Oh yes, its so sad to see someone go thru the struggle, lose the weight, just to gain it back again & she had to do it in the public eye. The struggle is real & is never ending. It's so easy to fall back on old habits, so easy to think ok I'm normal now no need to struggle anymore, but catching ourselves is important.

Yeah I had a good time at my friends party & I wanted to keep it going with the food & drinks way after it was over, but I had to catch myself & start to reign it back in, it's not all the way there yet, but it will be.

It gets harder between years 1-3, that's for sure. Your description of Diet Fatigue is apt. After a while the hard work and focus will fade, if you let it.

Don't let it.

I think being in the public eye has to make this all at the very least twice as hard. And I'm only 8 months out so I don't know how hard it will be when I get past the year or more mark, but I'm imagining pretty hard. I definitely don't judge her for any regain (or anyone else) because I am worried about that for my future. I know RNY and this lifestyle is something I will have to work att pretty much forever.

You get stronger so some aspects of the battle are easier.

But then there is that "will" part. Sometimes other demons pop up so it is a new fight (which always seems harder****il new winning strategies are created and used.

Oh!  One more thing.  I am not a vet yet.  But one of them told me that it is critical that I develop a "new identity" for myself post-op as a normal sized person. I think it is so I dont consider myself as large, and continue to use the mental/emotional crutches I used pre-op (i.e. I feel stressed so cookies are good relief!!).

That was good advice.

Sometimes I have to step back and ask myself, "What would a skinny person do here?" because I dont know what a proper "normal" behavior/response is.

A few years ago she had a show about her and the post op BOB.

I think she was in denial. She was baking, cooking etc... To me that was like an alcoholic tending a bar or getting a job as wine taster... Not really smart.

I fell badly for her, but I don't see her ever dealing with her adictions..

Besides which, the odds of anyone losing significant weight with the Band Over Bypass are just about zero.

I had never even heard of band over bypass till I saw she did this... Wasn't sure how that could help.

The sad truth is, it doesn't. The only weight people seem to lose is  from the liquids diets before and after the revision. It seems cruel to me to lure desperate people that way.
