Insurance to cover Nutritional Supplements Legit?

Hi Everyone..

After perusing this forum, I noticed an ad, to the right, regarding insurance coverage of nutritional dietary supplementation including Premier Protein of which I do use....

Has anyone investigated this program or company and was successful in getting the shakes covered?  I am curious as I don't want to be part of a scam...

Please let me know.  I will also check with my own insurance company but this was my first step as to if I or we should pursue this process.

Thx alot

Merry Christmas and Happiest of New Year-2016.

Thank you IKing....

That is what I was thinking...Medicare wouldn't cover it....I haven't had a chance to call Humana but will for the heck of it...I love the choc shakes that I drink for a medication I need to be taken with food...

You appear to be doing very well in your weight loss.  Keep it up....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.

It is a scam.

There are a few companies that do something like this. They offer either free protein shakes, vitamins, or both. Insurance companies do NOT cover these things.

How the scam works is, when you agree, what these companies do is send you "scar cream," or something similar that IS covered by insurance. The products are essentially worthless, since they do nothing for the excess skin we have. Though the amounts I have seen vary, some of these companies bill your insurance for a couple thousand dollars per month for this cream. And since they are making money hand over fist, they send you the protein powder, vitamins, or whatever out of their own pocket, and not because the insurance paid.

You are essentially agreeing to a prescription for an online diagnosis and prescriotion that requires "scar cream," and would be helping these companies defraud your insurance carrier of thousands of dollars for a few bucks worth of protein and vitamins. Insurance companies will catch on to this, and their could be repercussions, including having to pay the insurance company back, or being charged with insurance fraud.

Thank you Grim---you certainly weren't grim on this subject that is why I posted it....I had an inkling this wasn't kosher!  Sort of "If it sounds too good to be true"!  Be careful- IT ISN'T!   Hopefully, people will read your post as it is a good example.  I didn't sign up and now won't...

Thank you again for the HEADS UP!!  I hate that when it happens to innocent people.

My insurance covers my 'pre-natal' vitamins with a 0 copay. But they don't cover protein drinks.
