Okay, so, I have a horrendo migraine. I got it last night at about 5pm and I still have it today at 2pm. Here is my question, what do you post-ops take for migraines? This one has been bad enough to make me puke, fun times. My dad brought me some Darvocet and I still have some Vicodin left over from surgery, but Vicodin only knocks me out, it doesn't seem to get rid of the pain. Any ideas? I'm miserable.

I take maxalt-MLT (prescription) and it works pretty well and the tablet is tiny. Hope you feel better soon! Mary

Mary, I have also heard of that and they say it is excellent because it disolves on your tongue and works in seconds. Take Care & Bright Blessings! Jean

I know the old sayin is to take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning...but dont do that LOL I know someone did take excedrin migraine after surgery, but its not recommended. I was prescribed fioricet, and there are others to be prescribed too but that dont help you now. I am sorry that you are havin this major migraine..I get them too. Try a hot bath with an ice pack on the back of your neck and one on your forehead, and rest too. If that dont work, someone earlier said that rubbing alcohol on a handkerchief on the forehead and back of neck work too, makes it cold. I know it stinks, but maybe if you used the green alcohol with the mentholatem stuff in it or whatever it is, it smells better. I hope this helps. Sorry you are sick with it too....I hate Migraines. Take Care & Bright Blessings! Jean

I have not found a single prescription to work directly on the pain of a migraine; I have to resort to taking something to knock me out, so I sleep through it. Sometimes a neck rub will help ease the throbbing somewhat, and a warm compress on my head or neck helps, too **** does NOT work - makes it worse!). Excedrin Quick Tabs worked pretty well (got permission from my doc, since they contain aspirin - he said okay, since they melt on your tongue, but don't take too many), but I can't find them anymore... I hope you find something to help, I know all too well how uncomfortable you are right now...

i take imitrex by prescription. it works really well for me. why don't you just take the vicodin and maybe you can sleep it off? or try drinking something caffeinated, that's usually works. if all else fails, call your doc. hope you feel better soon!

I take Imitrex but it hasn't worked as well since surgery. I tried Maxalt but it didn't work at all for me. I usually take an Imitrex and a xanax. I've been having a really rough time with migraines since surgery. Before surgery, Inderal LA helped prevent them and if I did get one, then Imitrex always worked. Now I'm trying to find a good solution. I hope you get some relief. Take care. Linda

I second the post above about about Maxalt! I had terrible migraines back in 2002 and my doc gave me an Rx for Maxalt. They dissolve on your tongue AND they are tiny. I'm not sure if we can take them post-WLS, as I haven't had any problems with migraines in quite some time and haven't had to take anything. I hope your migraine goes away soon! I know how annoying and painful they can be

I take fiorecet-it has caffiene, tylenol and barbituate in it. I also take it when the tylenol isn't cutting it for PMS cramps. It is prescription only. samantha

Ooh, I hate migraines. Mine have been worse since WLS due to my monthly cycle returning. My doctor put me on Inderal (daily) as a preventative measure. I've been getting fewer now. I'd rather due that than take the nasty migraine medicine. But, if I have to, I take Zomig, it dissolves right away. Hope you feel better! Cathy
