Yes, you can take Immodium, just not pepto because it has aspirin in it. You need to consult your dr, too since it has been going on this long. Feel better soon.

Hi Marianne, I would call and talk to your Dr. or surgeon regarding the diarrhea. I had chronic diarrhea for over 3 months and almost died. I was in the hospital for a month. It took them awhile to diagnose what I had. I had c-diff colitis. Its very serious. I had diarrhea 20-35 times a day. The weight flew off me so quickly. If you have c-diff colitis you should not take ammonium ad as that will increase the bacteria in your intestine and make it even worse. Trust me I did this without knowing. The best thing is to get them to do a stool culture. It took many times with this test as I was going so much that the test could not pick up enough of the lil critters. The test has a 50 percent failure rate. I don't want to scare you but I almost died as my electrolytes and potassium were at near death levels. You can read my profile. I still suffer boughts of it and always will. I just know when it happens to start on my vancomcin antibiotics. (very expensive and last resort antibiotics $1,000 for a prescription thank god for insurance). So please call your Dr. or Surgeon and tell them everything so that you can get it under control. You can look u c-diff colitis and see the symptoms and info on treatment. Let us know what you find out. If your Dr. can't see you then get into an er immediately. Take care. Diarrhea is usually self-limiting...when whatever is causing you to poop your brains out gets pooped out....it will stop. In that sense, taking something to stop the diarrhea could make it last longer. On the other hand, you do have to worry about dehydration...so I'd call my drs office on this one!

Hi -- I also had C. Diff Colitis immediately post-op, and ended up in the emergency room needing IV fluids. We can get dehydrated very quickly, and you might not even know it. In my case, I actually started halleucinating - it was awful. I'd say get to the doctor to get it checked out. It might not be anything serious, of course, so don't panic, but just do the smart thing, for your peace of mind, and get checked. God Bless, and good luck.
