Approved for Plastics!

I visited a plastic surgeon a couple of weeks ago, and I got the call that I was approved by my insurance.  I was hoping that the 360 degree lift (not sure of the actual name) would be approved, but insurance said that would be cosmetic.  Instead, they approved an abdominal lipectomy.  But insurance won't pay for the belly button reconstruction so I'm paying out of pocket for that.  Seems weird, since the surgeon's office said it had to be done after the lipectomy, but oh well.  It's still much less than I'd be paying if I had to pay for the full thing.

I want to wait until we're on summer break and after our big trip this summer, so I scheduled it for July 11th.  Yay!

Awesome news!  At least your insurance is covering some of it.

Seriously?  They consider your belly button cosmetic too?

My mom has had so many abdominal surgeries (about 8) that they took away her belly button.  She doesn't have one at all.  It's so weird looking.

Congratulations! Did the surgeon handle all of the tedious work to get your insurance company to approve you or did you have to do anything on your part? I'm just curious because I remember the headache from getting approval from my insurance company to have the RnY approved.

The surgeon handled everything.  He took a bunch of photos to document my rashes and sores, and sent those along with his report to the insurance company.  Fortunately everything went well.
