Mental Health

I had LAP Band surgery in 2012, and have gained back about 15 pounds.

I do not eat much!  I mostly eat light yogurt with reduced fat peanut butter.

I find it really hard to eat much of anything and I'm always hungry

even when feeling full.  Even before surgery, I dealt with depression.

Over the last year or so mental health wise I was doing pretty well.

I, however, have been feeling very depressed today!

Hi Maronita,

I'm sorry your feeling depressed today. Do you currently feel safe? Are you suicidal? If you feel unsafe or suicidal please contact your therapist/ psychiatrist or go to the nearest er.

Try not to panic about feeling depressed for one day, some days are just bad days then the next will be good. If  the feelings of depression persist or if you feel suicidal seek help.

I hope you feel better soon.

Maronita,

May I suggest that you consider finding a skilled pro psych who specializes in eating disorder and body image.  The WL journey can be complicated and you never know what issues will come up and need to be addressed. Go the the ER if you need to today.  Do not mess around and get into a full crisis.

I suggest that everyone identify a pro so that if/when they need it you are not searching for someone when you are in crisis.

See #6 in my recent post.

Prayers for you, but take care of yourself.

Have you checked in with your surgeon lately? It might be a good idea to see if everything is OK with your band, and to have blood work done; vitamin deficiency can play with your mental health.

Things like depression can come and go. Can you find a therapist or psychiatrist? Your GP may even be able to point you in the right direction.

I think for me we all have days we really can get down on our self and I see so many saying talk to a dr.  Sometimes we just need a person who understands and give support.  Message me if you want to talk.

Hey Maronita, I hope you are out of your depression now. Just relax and get out the depression completely. It would be better if you could visit a psychologist.
