Does anyone have any experience taking Vyvanse for Binge Eating?
Hi there,
I'm 3 years out of VSG. My psychiatrist told me about Vyvanse being approved for Binge Eating Disorder. I am thinking of trying it. Wondering if anyone pre or post op has any experience with it.
I'm not bingeing a ton, but I am a bit out of control at times.

I am on it now and it has and is helping me so much...I'm not very hungry like I used to be and to be honest it also helps me focus much better (it is also used to help with ADD). I have to admit I lost 25 lbs preop and I believe that the meds helped me a lot...I've been on it for about 6 months now.
Vyvanse helps those of us with BED much the same way as it helps those with ADHD. It helps reduce the need to self-stimulate in children with ADHD, for instance, so it relaxes us in many ways, even though it helps us focus. It can certainly help. I have found that it is most successful to use in conjunction with therapy. Typically DBT or CBT are really good for binge eating disorder treatment-wise (I prefer DBT), but any therapist with good rapport can also do good work, depending.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I was sleeved Oct 2016 and already within the first year I can recognise that I have major issues with binge eating. I am unable to afford counselling or meds at the moment but I am receiving treatment for mental illness/chronic pain.
How did you get on with your investigation into Vyvanse? How have you been managing your food intake & weight loss/maintenance?
