Heck of a day plus NSV

Hey everyone.  After being AWOL for a while, I got back on here about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and man am I glad that I did.  My weight was creeping back up, and I knew I needed to get back on track.  I've just about lost the extra weight that had crept back on, and I'm only a half pound away from being under 200 again.

Today was the Santa Run 5k.  This makes my 6th 5k in the last year.  I was making pretty good progress on my times, but after I had skin removal surgery over the summer, my exercising came to a crashing halt.  I had a 5k back in October, but I had to do a combination of running/walking.  Last month, I did a "virtual" 5k, which was going to a Michigan State Park and finding some trails to do a 5k on my own.  The park I chose had a really hilly trail, so I ended up doing a hike instead of a trail run.

Today, I was able to make it through the whole 5k without walking at all!  My time wasn't impressive, but I made it, and now I can use this as a jumping-off point to get my time faster, and hopefully set a new personal best at my next race in March.  Here are some pics from today, including my favorite, cutest reindeer:

After the race, we had lunch at a local restaurant, which was pretty good.  We then came home and had a nap (yes!) and finished the night with a performance of the Nutcracker.

Overall, it was just a heck of a day, with a really nice NSV and a great time overall.

Super cute reindeers..

It is so easy to forget the rules and have slipp up. You caught it just in time and corrected.. Great job.

Congratulations on 5k.
