A low cal granola?

Does anyone  have a low cal granola they can recommend? I wanted to put a T or 2 on my morning yogurt to give it some added Umph, but it's all more than 100 cals and I'm not going there....

I put a tablespoon of Kashi Crunch Go Lean granola on my yogurt.  I don't think I'd ever eat a bowl of it since it's pretty bland, but for adding crunch to yogurt, it does the trick.

There is a recipe on World according to Eggface for something that looks like granola.   I have not tried it yet.

I don't like crunchy bits in my yogurt, but if I want to make mine fancy I'll add about half a teaspoon of sugar-free all-fruit jam to plain Greek yogurt. Good stuff!

so, I used to make high calorie granola when I owned a bakery. People have been asking me for lower cal version for a while, but I never got around to it. So your post got me to get off my duff and play with some ratios in MFP. 

The thing with healthier granola, is it won't really clump together and give you clusters. That really comes from sugar. 

Basic Granola

Combine the following in a bowl:

1 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup sliced almonds

1/8 cup shaved coconut

a good pinch of salt

in Another small dish combine:

2T of canola oil

2T maple syrup

-pour the wet ingredients over the dry, stir to combine.

-spread granola evenly on a cookie sheet, bake at 300, gently stir every 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

-remove from oven, sprinkle with 1/8 Cup dried cranberries, allow to cool without stirring.

MFP stats based on 12 servings, 1.5 T each:

Calories: 79

Carbs:8.8

Fat:4.5

Protein:1.5

Also, if you want to boost the flavour even more, you can try skillet granola.

using the recipe above:

toast the oats in a dry cast iron pan for a few minutes to get them toasty. 

Add remaining dry ingredients, stir a few more minutes

Add wet ingredients, combine , continue stirring occasionally until you're happy with the colour ( vague I know, I've just never timed it) remove from heat, sprinkle cranberries, allow to cool in the pan (unless things look like it's burning, the transfer to a bowl or cookie sheet)

some bits might get pretty dark, but the taste is amazing. 

Also, I used almonds and dried cranberries, but the same ratios can be used for any combo. Pistachio and dried cherry is amazing!

 

And finally : I use bran buds hahah

I just switched from using granola to honey nut cheerios in my cereal. Only 2Tbs worth, so minimal worry (IMO) for carbs/calories. 

I was using honey bunches of oat granola, but my son likes it in his cereal and between the two of use were going broke buying it- its pricey.
