At 3.5 months post surgery my hair looks better than it has in years. Just wondering when people notice hair loss so I can prepare myself.

I'm at 3.5 months and I have been having heavy hair loss for 2 weeks.

I never noticed hair loss. However, I also shaved my head at 6 weeks post-op (for St. Baldricks) in part so hair loss wouldn't be an issue :)

From what I've been able to find, if it's going to happen it'll happen around the 3 month mark.

Mine started in month 4 and didn't slow down until month 8-ish.

3 - 4 months seems like the most common time frame for it to happen, based on posts I've seen here over the years.

I have hair loss. I've always had a bunch of hair in the comb every morning so I didn't really notice I had significant loss until recently. So in the last couple of months has been a lot. I saw it was super thin on top and panicked thinking I had inherited my dad and grandpa's thinning hair!

Then I remembered about hair loss from WLS and felt better. Got my hair done yesterday and my hairdresser said I have new growth so WHEW!! Lol

TY Cecily! Got this awesome new deep wave curling iron, gives me beachy curls and makes it look thicker. Helps my self-esteem a lot since my hair was really looking thin lol. Shorter is a new thing for me as well...no longer hiding behind my long hair!

I thought I noticed more hair strands than usual in my comb starting in month five, but then again, it might have just been that I was expecting it. At any rate, if I lost any hair, it wasn't much.

It is called telogen effluvium and will depend on where your hair was in the cycle.

Google it for more info. It is usually about three months and will happen between months three to nine.
