Hooray! My birthday was Monday and I was torn between getting an instant pot or a nice food processor as my gift. Woke up Monday morning to see Amazon having a one day 30% off sale for the instant pot. So it was decided! It just arrived so I'm excited to crack open the users guide and see how to work this puppy.

Any tips or ideas for favorite things to make with it?

I love to do meat in mine, especially pork and beef roasts. I'll get a pre-seasoned pork loin from Safeway or Trader Joe's, throw it in the pot with a little bit of chicken broth, and it's done in half an hour!

I keep hearing about these things. I will have to look out on Amazon (Canada) for a sale!

The best advice I can give is go to one of the professional sites for recipes, lots of people publish recipes that are untested and you'll feel like you made the mistake. I like This Old Gal and Amy & Jacky but there's lots of them. The official Instantpot FB page is huge, 600k members, but if you use the search function it's really good.

I use mine mostly to make yogurt with fairlife milk. I like my homemade yogurt entirely too much.

I use it for chicken thighs, pot roasts, pork tenderloin turned into carnitas.

I second Kim's suggestions to find reputable sites for recipes.

The FB Instant Pot group can be helpful if you can sift through the thinly veiled attention ***** "look at my fabulous kitchen" pictures, and people jokingly asking what to cook their child/cat on while posting pictures of said cats/kids sitting in their inserts.

That site is definitely drama, can you imagine trying to moderate it?
