Bacon Webs-how to make

This might be of particular for the AMAW and CAMAW crowd.

I had a lucky kitchen accident! I learned how to make bacon webs/substrate/bread.

To do this- I used a bacon boss (link below..can be purchased from BB&B or Target.com). Basically I overlapped 2-3 pieces of bacon at their ends (each side). Put the lid on, cranked it down and nuked 5 pieces for 7 minutes. The fat sort of annealed the protein pieces together to achieve a webbed bacon substrate. This bacon web is strong enough for me to put slices of havarti and pear on. This makes the most gourmet looking (and tasting) lunch I have had since the wine-braised rabbit. Try it! It is pretty nifty!

I purchased one of these from QVC a few years back. Looks almost the same but was made to microwave hamburger patties. I tried it only once and hasn't been used since. Now I have a use for it, bacon! Thanks for sharing!

The directions on mine didn't give the time 4 burgers. Can you please send me the time range? I would love to give it a whirl!

I could not find the instructions/recipe booklet that came with mine. I did google an old PDF user guide online and it says to micro for 3 minutes, remove lid and turn burger for another 2 minutes for medium rare. I'm going to get mine out again:-)

That cooker looks interesting. Amazon has it on sale for $15.99 right now. I put it on my wishlist for Christmas.

The above poster told me that it can even be used for hamburger patties! I am going to give it a whirl next week. This week, I am making Crack SLAW
