I asked Sparklekitty about doing a what's on your mind thread daily since the one she started last week was pretty helpful. We all have our day to day worries so why not talk about them and give your emotional and mental health a boost! We are more than just protein eating machines, after all

My my thoughts today- I am nervous about my new job. The thought of failing at it keeps me up at night off and on. Since surgery, even before surgery with therapy, I have come so far. Feeling like I will go backwards terrifies me. I am also upset that my my mother and sister who moved in last year after her "cancer" scare have destroyed my home. I had to file an eviction notice and will have to rip the carpets up in their rooms and will have to pay for fumigation. Even in my most depressed years I couldn't have stood to live the way they live. Trusting them to act and behave like actual humans was a mistake.

New job can be stressful. But you got it because people believed you can do it. And you can. Some stress indicate that you are really serious about doing a great job. I am my own boss and I have days that I don't think I am really good in what I am doing. And that can me from sleeping at night.

On anther note- you did your best to help family- they disappointed you. Things happened. But you can fix it, and hopefully you don't get suck again in their drama. That you would be strong enough to say "no" next time. Learn a lesson, cut your losses, and move on. Be proud that you really did your best. Hugs.

All the best with the new job. Own and be ready to demonstrate the skills you have, and be flexible to learn to enhance what you bring.

Sorry about the family drama. I'd let my nephew stay with me for a few months, and one day he left and never came back. He left the room he was staying in a wreck. But though he'll never admit it, I know that time helped him gather himself mentally. I don't regret the extra cleaning, that resulted. I did my part to try and build his emotional health, what he takes away from it is up to him.

I thought what HALA said was so good. Somebody believed in you enough to give you the job. There is always a learning curve with new jobs no matter how much we know.

I need a job .. I keep saying 2017 soooo didn't turn out like I expected. I am over here recovering from my second shoulder surgery. I feel like I need to get my head above water....

Family is always interesting. I have my nephew living with me now. So far so good. I am sorry they wrecked you rooms and you had to get to the point if filing eviction notices .... that sounds horrible.

Today, what was on my mind was how I can raise children that aren't as screwed up in the head about food as I am. When do you limit food intake? Do you limit it at all? What about food choices? Does vacation make a difference in what you allow them to choose?

My 11-year old (who has always been small for her age) is eating like a teenage boy. I assume she's growing like crazy. I think she's put on 10lbs and 2" in the last 4-5 months. I'm astounded by her portion sizes, but have no idea what to say about it! If anything!

So anyway, that's what has been on my mind today.

I always knew my son was about to go through a growth spurt when he was consuming a half gallon or more of milk a day. It's hard during this period as their appetite can change so quickly.

If my son had had two portions and I thought if he went for thirds he was being excessive.... I would say something like - you had seconds already, if you are still hungry in 20 minutes you can come back and have more. Most times he'd go off and forget about it, but not always...

I think about this a lot too. I definitely think limiting food is not the answer, because that can promote a scarcity mentality. We offer healthy choices, eat sitting down at a table whenever possible, cook together, try to model eating meals instead of snacks, and don't use food as a reward or a punishment. Hopefully that's enough.

It's hard when my toddler screams for bananas in the grocery store - we literally try to distract him so he doesn't see the banana display and we can't have bananas in the house or he won't eat anything else!

Are your kids all toddlers or younger? There's so much more outside influence into food as they get older. My girls are 8 & 11.

yes, only the one toddler so i really don't know what i'm talking about. I'm hoping I can continue all the healthy habits with him as much as possible as he gets older, but I'm sure it gets much more complicated.
