Ugh carafate is a pain. I was on it 4 months after my second stricture/ulcer combo. It really does screw up your meal times. I also woke up early in the morning to take it and then went back to sleep.

but! On the bright side, it really works super well. I had a love/hate relationship with it.

Hope you feel better!

Thanks. And yeah, i think waking up, taking it, and going back to sleep is my only viable option. I've managed to work out a schedule, but it's going to be a long month. And I've already started dropping a little weight in the first five days of taking it. It's going to be a long couple of months dealing with this. Oh well, he did say that he has an over 98% cure rate with this combo, so there's the bright side.

I know you don't want to lose much weight, but honestly, you're still fine in the BMI scale unless you have had a DEXA scan to evidence you have really low body fat? My husband (no WLS or obesity at any point) is 5'9.5" and sits between 145-150 as his comfortable range and he's a pretty muscular guy (16% body fat, per DEXA scan). I'm not meaning to criticize your goal weight, just to criticize the doctor's that are likely tsking you for 'losing too much'.

Similarly, I'm a 5'7" woman and sitting around 125 (19% body fat per DEXA scan, before my plastics). It's the lower end of where I'd want to be, but I figure there's always later to gain if I want to. I do also eat frequently (5 "meals") and have a high-calorie intake for what I've seen other people on here have (I eat 1,700-2,000/day when not active).

Yes, I'm basing my maintenance weight on DEXA scans. At my latest scan I had a 7.4% body fat. When I was at my lowest weight (147 lbs) my body fat was at 5.1%. It's not going to kill me to lose a couple of pounds, but since essential body fat for a man is 2% - 5%, I really can't afford to go into the bottom of the BMI range given my current body composition.
