Congrats to you, there have been a lot of success stories of the BOB, (Band over Bypass). You must be excited to get a new tool that will help aid your weight loss efforts!

Can you point me to any of these success stories? I have seen no such thing, nor any clinical evidence/research to support it-- especially with the known dangers of the band.

Please make sure you're aware of the risks and complications that can come with a lap band-- scarring, adhesions, slippage, GERD, and total failure.

Good luck and stay safe!

Congratulations! I guess band over bypass is a revision? If it were the lap band alone I would say run far away! I had a horrible experience which ended up in emergency surgery, and my band removal. My new surgeon states it's a horrible surgery and a high percentage of people suffer the same fate as myself. I hate to be a Debbie downer but do your research!

I would be very cautious about getting a lapband over the bypass. There have been to many long term complications with just the band alone never mind if it is installed over the bypass. The esophageal damage and scar tissue build up that has been found when a band is removed is scary.

Also be aware of GERD/heartburn after the band is installed. I had the band for over 10 years and with no fill at all I had developed severe heartburn that caused me to eat tums like candy to get any relief. I couldn't eat dense protein without throwing it back up. When I had my band removed it showed that my band had been encased in scar tissue and was infected. I had to have a part of my stomach removed due to the damage when they did the bypass.

Just be aware of the complications that can happen.

I cannot believe this is still a thing. I would SERIOUSLY consider finding a true revision surgeon. This is a horrible idea that almost guarantees another surgery
