I'm scared of malabsorbing nutrients, I'm scared of lifelong difficulties eating a high fat and high fiber diet, I'm scared of looking/being emaciated (my BMI is currently 21), I'm scared that insurance won't cover it, I'm scared that people will find out I had WLS (very few know), I'm scared of the complications of a revision surgery and I remember how hard recovery was. I'm scared of pregnancy after RNY. I'm scared of feeling like this situation is out of my control.

Are you working with a therapist to address your fear and control issues? Sounds like it would be very helpful.

I think my fears are really normal in this situation.

Maybe it's your wording here, but you sound obsessive and disproportionately worried about this cancer risk.

People have had revisions without becoming emaciated.

People have had safe pregnancies after RNY.

People have a fine time following an appropriate diet

People definitelydefini nutrient deficiency after RNY with proper supplementation.

There's tons of stories about this stuff on the forums. It's all here for you to read and research.

When I post, I use the opportunity to journal my worst fears to an anonymous audience. That is likely why my post seems mentally unstable to you.

I did not say you are mentally unstable, and I don't appreciate having words put in my mouth.

Severe anxiety happens to all sorts of perfectly stable people.

To fear what we do not understand is perfecly normal. Research would be a good place for you to gain knowledge and learn about any future procedure you may require. The symptoms you are having may make you qualified under insurance guidelines for surgical modifications.

I had an early WLS,23 year ago. it included RNY,+ a lot of other procedures, including small bowel re-section and removal of most of my colon. . It was highly effective.

I maintain my health and am building my iron using mostly naturals and supplements.. I use desicated liver , sea kelp, mag. calcium, K2,colloidial minerals,a basic mvi, and coconut oil, olive oil to cook with.

It put me back on the road to health and diet control . I eat a lower selected fat, diet that is high in protein and low in carbs. my limits on protein is a minumum of 90 grams. for best weight loss i need to bump it up to 100 or a little more... carbs for weight loss must be close to 25... i can maintain at close to, but under 50.

I am within a few lbs of my orig. goal. It has been a journey. I have had stresses that affected my hormones and weight gain..( cortizol) Intestinal issues/chronic gastritis that affected serotonin levels.( corrected long term w/ papin and bromelin)

take care and learn so you don't feel out of control re: these things. Moving past the fear will assist in your weight loss continuation (as needed) and any surgery that becomes necessary.Blessings.

Normal or not, it doesn't mean you need to suffer without support. A therapist might be able to help you alleviate your fears or figure out how to address them in a productive manner.
