First foods?

I just hit my 3 week point and am now on "regular" foods. I have the list of foods but I feel like nothing really even sounds good. I have tried cheese, which was good. I tried chicken, I got sick, like it was stuck and I was coughing up something clear for 30minutes to an hour. So no chicken for a while!

My biggest challenge is trying to eat more high protein foods.

Yesterday, I picked up canned tuna & canned carrots. I just feel stuck for ideas. This morning my son and I made an omelet and he cut off the end off for me. Help LW Friends?

Fish was my best friend when I first started on regular type foods. I cooked(baked w/lemon & butter) a lot of Swai and Cod. I could easily digest it and helped with protein goals. A website that helped me with ideas was TheWorldAccordingToEggface.com, she has so many ideas if you have not checked it out yet.

I heard about it here and did visit but it was prior to getting to regular foods so I just surfed, I'll go back now that I can do something with the information.

If it was a chicken breast, that could be why it was too dry. Thighs are much more moist naturally, but it could be you're not quite ready for chicken.

Like Kristi suggested, fish would be a good choice. My favorite kind is Swai. It's very tender and flaky.

Even though you're cleared for regular food, if you can eat Greek yogurt, it's still a great choice for 3 weeks out as long as it's low in added sugar. I would eat yogurt with a little protein powder mixed in.

I also second the advice to visit Eggface's website. She's a post WLS food genius.

It was a chicken breast, my son had made them and they were pounded flat so they were nice and thin. However, I was still on full liquids so technically they were leftover. So probably a little drier. I will try dark meat next time, that was what made me think of the tuna, being in water it seemed like it would be a little moister.

Thanks for your input!

If you are a coffee drinker, RTD premier protein drink in your coffee is a very good early out boost. It, along with greek yogurt, helped me hit my protein goals for months. I also drank a lot of the protein water at first.

I used to drink 3 - 4 cups a day! Now I might get 4 ozs. I use the RTD chocolate & vanilla, which one do you prefer with coffee.

I like the chocolate and caramel with my coffee but vanilla is fine, if just doesn't have as much "coffeehouse" flair, lol. I tend to use the caramel in decaf at night; that and the dessert flavored herbal teas really help me when my head tell me "you need a treat".

RTD just means ready to drink - so the prepared shake instead of the powder. You can find it a lot of places, sams club or Walmart usually have it one sale.

I liked Protein20 waters - they do have an aftertaste but it didn't bother me.
