I love this as an overall goal: "consistency over perfection".

I agree with the daily weigh in. I'm out a lot longer than most, and I can tell you that pre-surgery, I never wanted to weigh myself when I was being bad because I knew that I was gaining, but I didn't want to "know". So now, every single day, I weigh myself, good bad or indifferent. Even if I've gained, I need the accountability. It's easier to bring yourself back from a few pounds than a few dozen :)

Just because we have surgery does not mean that we are done with watching our diet. We will always have to be vigilant, but this surgery makes it doable.

Okay, I'm finally ready to chime in. I maintained between 115-118 for 2 years, 3 months. Then it slipped to 119-122. I actually held there for 7+ months without a lot of anguish, easier than in the lower range. My clothes still fit. THEN I started dealing with a lot of stress (DH rapidly declining on the Alzheimer's slope), and had about 6 weeks of almost constant company. I started to slip on weighing, measuring and tracking as if I was on "vacation". My clothes are now tight and some I can't wear comfortably.

So, I'm back on the meal plan wagon. But I am definitely rethinking my range. Maybe 119-122 makes more sense. I'm going to see where I plateau after losing this regain. As long as my clothing fits well again and I feel and look healthy I think I'll be okay with that.

Biggest lessons: I MUST weigh, measure and track even when on "vacation" (I'm retired so I have too much time available to count as vacation). I feel mentally more in control when I am control of my eating. The latter has been an interesting epiphany.

Maritopia (formerly Mahonia I think?), we all need to look inside to understand what motivates us to be successful. And at least for me that will probably be a constant learning session. And btw, you inspire me on losing the regain I have since you were able to do it!
