Very common side effect from a distal. Carbs tend to be the biggest culprit but YMMV

I hope your surgeon warned you about tha****ch out for carbs and a good probiotic may help. VSL#3, now called Visbiome, seems to be a good one.

Go to the DS forum and read old posts there for suggestions (different surgery, but same side effect).

You don't say when you had your surgery. Yes, the Distal RNY has similar malabsorption as the DS so you will experience "bowel" changes and some diarrhea when eating carbs/sugar. Hopefully your surgeon explained all of that before you had surgery. I had the DS and not the Distal RNY so hopefully someone with the same surgery can respond to you and provide more guidance.

I eat a mostly paleo diet - lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts/seeds, a decent amount of meat including organ meats, black coffee, about 100-120 oz of water a day. When my diet is good (which it usually is), I poop at approximately the same time every day (between 8:00-9:00 a.m.) and it is a healthy solid movement.

I find when I eat cheese, junk carbs or drink, I become irregular and the stool is either very hard to pass or is not solid at all.

That is the most I have ever written about poop in my life.
