i know this is a stupid question but where i live at the temperature has dropped below 80 and its raining and i am cold and i have lost 153 lbs in 11 months, exercise, eat the right foods, take my vitamins etc. when i was at my highest weight 345 i was always too hot. is this normal? my sister who has not had the surgery but wears a size 8 says she stays cold alot too and says its because i have lost alot of weight. i don't know. i have gotten alot of sweatshirts on sale but i have a feeling its going to be a long fall/winter. has anyone else experienced this or is it just me? thanks so much for the feedback.

This happens to a great many after surgery. It's more than just losing the weight, because it happens often from the moment they wake up from surgery. Some are just plain cold, all the time.

Quite normal. I like to say that when I weighed 360 lbs, I basically walked around all year with the equivalent of 5 winter coats. I HATED summer, I couldn't go anywhere or do anything that I wasn't sweating and miserable in 5 minutes. Now everyone teases me because I'm always cold!! LOL

134 lbs lost since surgery, 195 overall!! Initial goal reached 9/15/17, (10.5 months)!

yes it is normal and happens to many. I have been cold the entire 9 years post op.i dress for my temperature , not the weather. If that means a hoody in summer so be it. I never go to a restaurant or the grocery without a coat or sweAter in the summer. You will learn how to manage it for yourself.

Seconded, it's still warm where I am (mid-80's) and now that I am smaller I literally have to take a jacket to the store so I can walk through the refrigerated isles. I am not looking forward to winter, last year was bad enough and I have lost 10 pounds and all my excess skin sense then.

Yep, very common. Six years later, I'm usually in a hoodie if it's less than 80 outside. Bundle up and don't forget your lower half. Thermal leggings from Costco are great, as are Eddie Bauer flannel-lined jeans.

I never got the cold thing. I still wear a short sleeved shirt sometimes while shoveling snow.

I am the third heat.

I too am cold all the time. I carry multiple coats in my car and always have one with me at a restaurant, grocery store, church or pretty much any air conditioned building.

Sadly I have to confirm. I freeze my butt off now. I still haven't adapted to the need to take a jaket with me into a restaurant or movie and so I have done a fair bit of shivering.

it was a temporary thing for me - but for others, it seems to be permanent. I don't get overheated like I did when I was SMO, but fortunately, I'm not freezing all the time like I was the first year or so, either.
