Have you attended an ObesityHelp Conference?

I am considering weight loss surgery but I have not taken the first steps to try and make it happen. Still researching and thinking about what is best for me and my body. I am also thinking about attending the ObesityHelp Conference in Houston this year. I am so very shy so I am not sure if my anxiety will get the best of me and keep me from going. And flying is a great fear of mine so there's that. I am just wondering what to expect at the conference and if you have attended one, what did you like most about the conference? Would the conference be right for me if I am still just considering the surgery next fall? I don't have family support or anything so I would be going alone and that will trigger my anxiety I know.

Leona - I have been to several - some OH, and some others...

My answer is YES...YES...and...YES...

I will absolutely meet up, ahead, with you, walk you in...sit with you...whatever you need...and I guarantee you, anyone, on this board, would give you the same offer, if you stick around, open yourself up, and get to know people!!

You have ALREADY made the VERY hardest, bravest step! I think conference are good for ALL stages of the journey...

The fear of flying I can't help you with. If flying your only option? Where are coming from? Maybe get to know people, And ride share? What a FUN road trip! I speak from EXPERIENCE, about the road trip, thing

Thank you Gina for your encouragement and support. I appreciate it and will reach out if I decide to go. I would be coming from Colorado. A road trip sounds like a fun idea!

Never been, but I think it would be awesome if you are pre-OP or surgery noob. Take Gina up on her offer!

I have been to a few and have had the time of my life! Totally out of my element and really connected with others. Think of how many non-scale victories you can achieve just in your initial statement! You will leave with newfound friendships, a passion for continuing your knowledge and a sense of accomplishment that you did something for you! The topics are really interesting and the parties are amazing!
