Hard lump lower abdomen

Over about the past 6 months I have noticed a hard lump/area under my naval.  I am morbidly obese and carry most of my weight on my stomach particularly lower down.  This hard area now makes my stomach point down and it is slightly red.  Sizewise it is about 4 inches across and down maybe more.  I am pre-op and weigh 26st 6lb.
When I first noticed this I thought it was because I had been sitting studying on a hard chair and my stomach had chafed.  I was so busy I pretty much ignored it.  However I have become very tired and have started having tests.  i thought I should check this out and actually on examination it appears that it is not just the skin hardening but internally and there are some smaller (large spot size lumps) on this area.

Any idea what this could be?  Anyone who is or was very obese experienced this - really worried.

It sounds as though it could have to do with your intestines. They wrap around so and so and are very long (it would amaze and surprise you to find out about the length). Sometimes, they get misconfigured (for lack of a better word) and cause problems. Appendicitis is one problem.

I would suggest going to a reputable doctor to have it diagnosed. Just make sure the doctor is knowledgeable in that area. It will relieve your fear and possibly avoid any future annoyances with it.

If it is a slight abnormality and not causing pain, don't worry about it. Look at it that you are unique.

Could be a hernia. You should have it checked out.
