Topic: RE: Is it safe to undergo botox with diabetes?

To be honest, I am not an expert in this, so the best advice is to ask this question to a specialist or you can find medical articles on Google. I wonder if I can become a cosmetologist or his assistant without a medical degree. In fact, I want to increase the standard of living and find another job, I believe that a cosmetologist is a very profitable business. So I found Advanced aesthetics training courses from Dr Hennessy Academy and want to know your opinion about it. I think if I can't become a cosmetologist, I can open my own office and hire specialists, anyway, I have to take this course to learn more about this job.

I think that in this case, you should consult a doctor.

Topic: Leg Stent, T1 Diabetes

What is involved in the procedure if you have to get a stent put in your leg for circulation?

In particular for T1 patients but any experience/knowledge would be appreciated. Does it take long to recover from the procedure and was it painful?

Topic: RE: Trulicity

I don't have diabetes, but I just started taking Ozempic (very similar to Trulicity) two weeks ago for weight loss. I had a lap-band and VSG at the same time (insurance reasons) in Feb 2010. Highest weight: 382 Surgery weight: 361 Lowest post-surgery weight: 285 Post surgery range: 285-335 Today's weight: 293 Obviously I didn't do as well from the surgery as I had hoped and have regained and relost just as before surgery. My surgeon has disappeared during the pandemic, so my endocrinologist recommended Ozempic. It seems like a miracle drug. I've lost 10 pounds in two weeks. I'm not hungry. I have had some nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, especially after drinking protein shakes. I'm wondering if I should switch from a whey protein shake to something else. There's no way I can get my protein in with this drug, but if I can find a protein shake I think I could get in a little more than half, which maybe is ok. I haven't found anyone else taking this. I see your post was from May. Did you decide to take it? What has your experience been?

Topic: Continuous Blood Sugar Monitor

I am overweight and have uncontrolled diabetes. A few days ago, I installed a continuous glucose monitor on my body. I didn't realize what I was getting myself into. It takes a blood glucose reading every five minutes and displays it on my phone. I am a food addict, so my emotions dictate when and what I eat. There is conflict between my brain wanting to eat, in effect get high on food, and the empirical data on my phone showing there is no biological reason for me to stuff my face with ice cream. The monitor has made it very stressful knowing exactly how unhealthy I am and how my behaviors need to change.

Topic: Want sugar

Hi guys! My grandmother has diabetes and she always has a strong desire to eat sugar, what's strange because she has never loved sweets or chocolate before diabetes and always treated them with indifference. Why is that and how can I stop her from begging chocolate?

Topic: The New D.M.R. Procedure - Non-WLS Hope for Type II Diabetics

(cross-posted from the general discussion forum)

Was just reading a paragraph in the A.A.R.P. Magazine this month about a new medical procedure for Type II diabetics. It likely was the result of research into why our DS procedure almost always results in a quick "cure" for diabetes. The new procedure is called "Duodenal Mucousal Resurfacing" .. It basically involves the surgical burning away of the outer layer (lining) of the first 4" of the duodenum segment of the small intestine. As a result, "much better" control of diabetes is achieved and within 6 months post-op most patients who were taking injectible meds (e.g. insulin) beforehand no longer needed them ... What a blessing for Type II diabetics who are not candidates for WLS (or who do not wi****). Help spread the word!

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Topic: RE: Why is it so hard losing weight being a diabetic?!

I was losing the diabetic battle for 7 years. Doctors love to Rx meds for it. seems every 6 months i was put on another med for it. At one point I was on insulin shots and another shot..along with 2 oral meds. One of which was farxiga ..which made me spill sugar in the urine..(i dont recommend..caused me to have yeast infections) Anyways for most of my adult life I was able to lose lots weight relatively easy. I would gain it back just as easy too. But never did i have a problem following any diet plan and losing weight. Then i got diagnosed with diabetes and it seemed as each year went by it got harder and harder to lose weight. Until finally this year I would only lose about 2lbs in a month when before i would be able to lose 15-20lbs in a month. It's very demoralizing and for sure caused me to get fed up and turn to food. My A1C would be really good for about 6 months of the year and then I would get frusturated and go back to my old eating habits and my A1C would shoot right back up the other 6 months of the year. yoyo-ing the 7 range to the 11 range for my A1C. All while being on meds that still made me feel like sht and put me in a false sense of reality. Finally i made the decision to get weight loss surgery in september of 2018. Best decision I ever made. They say if you have Diabetes that the RNY is the better surgery. I was not comfortable with it though. So I chose the VSG. My diabetes is cured but its cured because of my diet..not the surgery. I can live with that though. I told myself 3 months before the surgery That if I did nothing else..Surgery or not..I was going to get this diabetes in check through my diet. And I did. Before the surgery I got my A1C down from the High 10s to 6.2. Last time I had my A1C checked in February I was at 5.7 It took me 7 years to finally cut the refined carbs and sugar...But i did it. I still have lasting effects from my uncontrolled diabetes for 7 years. My feet are burning right now as i type this. (nephropathy) And I am spilling protein in my urine all the time which scares me. I dont want to end up in kidney failure.

My advice to type 2 diabetics is get it under control. You dont want to end up on dialysis..Or kidney failure..Lose limbs or your eyesight. Dont trust those meds that the commercials advertise relentlessly. The same meds your doctors most likely get a kickback for Rxing to their patients so they can pay for that next vacation or new house renovation. The same meds that make us believe we can eat more carbs than we should..and put us in a false sense of reality. The same meds that make us not be able to lose weight.
