How do you mix protein powder in hot drinks?

Do you use a gadget of some sort to mix protein powder into hot drinks?  How do you tell how hot you can get your drink without it being too hot?

I am trying to figure out how to make a protein hot chocolate.  I typically make my hot chocolate boiling hot which doesn't work with protein powder lol.  And I also don't know how to get the protein powder to mix in.  I use a shaker cup (Chike's) for my cold shakes.  If I could learn how to make a hot chocolate protein drink it sure would be great.

Could I make a regular protein shake in my shaker cup and then pour it in a coffee cup just heat it up in the microwave?  Would it taste like hot chocolate?

That's exactly how I make mine hot. I mix it just like I normally do when I have it cold, then I microwave it for about 90 seconds. If I go much longer than that it'll clump on me.

I have several ways, ... one is to make a slurry of protein and half and half or water which ever you prefer,  and I use a wisk, then slowly add some ho****er till much looser, kind of like tempering eggs,, then add whatever cocoa.

If I use matrix protein powder in chocolate, I mix with cool to luke warm water till mixed then top up with ho****er.. add half and half  if I need to cool it down if too hot to drink, but I am one that wants it hot but not tooo hot to drink.....

I also  mix unflavored protein in mixer cup with the wire ball, till smooth,m then add  cocoa, and ho****er, then half and half....yum!!!

Key is to start cool and then add hot.... I don't microwave, I keep clumping it LOL

I have protein hot chocolate every day and here's how I do it ... I take a cup of milk and put it in the microwave for 1 minute.  I add a scoop and a half of Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate powder and stir til smooth (the milk is lukewarm at this point).  I put it back in the microwave for another 20 seconds and stir again and it's the perfect sipping temperature.  This brand of powder mixes very well, warm or cold.

Think I'll go have one now before bed.  :)

I made it for the first time tonight and it came out great.  I took Swiss Miss No Sugar Added Hot Cocoa and made like usual - pu****er in microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds and then added 2 tablespoons of powder - mix.  In another cup I took 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (GNC ProPerformance) and a few ounces of water and mixed until a liquid.  Then I poured the hot cocoa into the protein mix and stirred.  Added some milk and it was done, delicious protein hot cocoa.

I have a water cooler with a hot tap in my house, I just use the water hot from the tap. (I like my shakes made with water.)

I have a chocolate protein powder. I use a blender ball cup. I put about 2 tbls of heavy cream in the bottom of the blender cup (because that's the amount I like the taste/consistency of). I put 8-10oz of water in the cup, then one scoop of my powder. Make sure the lid is capped VERY tightly because the heat expands and builds pressure in the cup. I shake vigurously over the sink and open very carefully because it pops like a champagne cork when opened. I then pour into a heat-proof container like a mug or travel coffee cup. To me it tastes better than normal hot chocolate and it's much more pleasant to drink than a cold shake. :D

I take 2 mugs, both half full of hot tap water. I boil 1 of the mugs of water, then add 1 T of instant coffee, and a splenda, sometimes some heavy cream or 1/2 & 1/2. The other mug, I mix with 1 to 1 1/2 scoops of my chocolate champion whey protein powder. Then I dump the contents of one cup into the other. Yummo! If it was any harder than this I wouldn't do it! :)

The best way I've found is to mix the protein powder into a cool liquid first then add hot liquid to it. Protein powder mixes best in cool liquid (4-6oz) then you can add a hot liquid (8-9oz) on top to keep the protein from clumping and you will rarely get the mixture over 150 degrees.

I use it from Mr Coffee or InstaHot. I use a hand blender in a 4 cup plastic measure at home. When out, i use various Moo Mixers we've had over the years (all different in each car - LOL)

At home, powder in cup, add liquid. With the Moo Mixer format, liquid in first, add powder while swirling.
