I can't get enough pickle juice! I'm drinking it by the cup full! Which leads me to wonder what my body is "needing"? Any suggestions?

A while back, I was researching pickle juice for nausea, and I bookmarked this interesting thread about post-DS pickle juice cravings: www.duodenalswitch.com/forum/showthread.php

Hi, it wasn't just pickle juice for me, but sweet pickles. I bought a jar, had several, bought another jar, had a few, but haven't had any in over a month. Don't ask me why, I still have a jar in the fridge, but havn't gone looking for em lately.

Your post made me giggle as it brought up an old childhood memory.  My dad (always a jokester) told my little brother, that if he drank all of the pickle juice in the jar, that it would make him stronger and put hair on his chest!  The juice from every empty jar of pickles, went to my brother, and he eagerly gulped it down.  He waited and waited for the hair to start growing on his chest.  Poor thing is 30 now, and still doesn't have a single hair on his chest!

Thanks! I now have 2 jars of pickles in my fridge minus any juice! I even went to the store and bought more pickles just for the juice! Asked the deli is I could just get some pickle juice but they didn't have any

Strange to me that you just want the juice, me, I would rather eat a pickle or two than drink just the juice. Is it sweet or sour pickle juice you crave? Funny thing is I never cared much for sweet pickles, grew up on old dill sour pickles, but now i love the sweet pickles, hmm?

I have an idea that might work for you!  Ask restaurants for their pickle juice.  Their pickles come in five gallon buckets, usually.  It might be weird, and you'll probably get alot of "are you out of your mind?" looks, but it's worth a shot.  They probably won't even charge you for it!

Pickle juice is basically water, vinegar, salt and spices.  I can't think of anything in it your body would crave except maybe the salt?

For years before my DS, I craved vinegar.  When I was pregnant with my first, I craved hot pepper juice and had jars of hot peppersw ith no juic in the fridge.  Immediately post-op, I craved a pickel taste, but haven't really had it since.  The worst, though, was when I was pregnant.  I would pour the hot pepper juice in a boal and eat it like soup. My thought is it must be some kind of deficiency - maybe iron?
