Questions about Strontium

Hi guys!

So, my D is holding steady at 38 (not great but it's steady), but at my last set of labs my PTH was up to 72 (up from 28) and my calcium is trending down.  I've been throwing 4,000 mgs of calcium at it, but after doing some reading I've decided to get some Strontium.  I got the kind made by Solaray and the serving size is 4 capsules and each serving has:

Vit C 100mg
Vit D-3 1,000 IU's
Vit K 45 mcg
Calcium Hydroxyapatiete 300mg
Mag ox  300mg
zinc 15 mg
maganese 15mg
potassium 77mg
Strontium citrate 50 mg
boron 1.5 mg

Here are my questions:
The bottle says to take four each day.  Should I spread them out, or take them all at once?
Should I take more?
Should I take anything to help it absorb?
Should this replace one of my doses of calcium citrate?

Any opinions or advice GREATLY appreciated!  I am just learning about all of this and still searching for answers.

Thanks in advance!

Lori

With all that other stuff mixed in, I'm not sure, but I think I would take it according to the label.

My understanding from Michelle is that you don't want to mix strontium and calcium so no idea about the hydroxyapatiete mixed in or how long to wait before one of your calcium citrate doses. No plan old strontium without all the additives available? That I understand. Sorry.

Okay, so maybe I'll just go back and get JUST strontium.  How many mg's of that should we take, Gina?

It's my understanding that the strontium shouldn't be taken with calcium, and MCHC is calcium.

Okay, I've clearly not researched this enough, Julie.  What's MCHC?

 that's your calcium hydroxyapatite....
I'm convinced that MCHC is instrumental in getting my serum calcium levels back to normal.   My D is still only a 31 and my PTH remains high, but it's higher than it's ever been.
I use the NSI Bone Booster formula.
I have hesitated to go on Strontium, even though there are credible studies that show it is effective, because my endo doc told me to hold off on it.    She felt that way due to the fact that it is a heavy metal, and that long-term data showing any effects from that is just not out there.

I was taking 1 - 300mg capsule at bedtime away from calcium and other vites. The only supplement I took at the same time was Proferrin. Unless you've been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, you might be jumping the gun on this.

Lori,
My understanding is to take it at least 2 hours away from any calcium. Mine sits in the bathroom and when I wake up in the night and go to the bathroom I take it in the middle night. I do not wake up every night, but since I already have been diagnosed with osteo, it sure can't hurt.

I take NSI from 680 mg from vitacost.
