HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I'm MISRABLE

Fellow DSers,

First off let me preface by saying I am eternally grateful to Dr. S for his mad skills  and for my weight loss (182 lbs). This time last year I wass truly dying. My asthma, my blood pressure, my blood sugar all out of control. Now all normal. BUT......... I am misrable.
#1 I am extremely weak. I have NO strength. I eat pretty much nothing but protein and my muscles are mush. When I get out  of the car I look like a 90 yr old woman. Yes I take my vites. Due to financial reasons I had to stretch my protein. So yes maybe I need to try and get more protein in. The problem is I am NOT hungry. I do try to eat anyway. But I can only force in two - three bites and I can do anymore. It's like my stomach says "No ***** Oh no you're not!!!"
#2 I hurt my back at work. I fell. I'm not sure why I fell but all I know is I could not lift my own body off the ground. After 5 people helped me I was able to get up. It was sooooo embarrassing. Now I do have 2 herniated discs, that I am going through physical therapy and steriod injections and I am hoping that as I gain more muscle strength my back will get better.

I need your words of advice. I am a very picky eater. I am very happy to say that I have recently added Greek Yogurt (with fruit) to  my diet. Trust me this  is a HUGE feat. There you have it, let me have it.
Thanks in advance
Tonya

I am not a Doctor but I have been malnourished and have felt exactly what you feel like. I had to lift my own leg to get it into a car. I couldn't stand on one leg at a time so it made step climbing look like I was 90 as well. I knew I needed to eat more and like you, felt I couldn't. The worse I got, the less I wanted to eat.
So you need to do a few things. One admit you are sick and go to the Dr...and tell the TRUTH about what you are eating and supplementing. Get those labs done at the same time. ASAP.
Second, you need to drink protein shakes till you are spewing them out of your ears and it doesn't matter if you "feel" hungry or not. It doesn't matter if you think they are "yucky."
Thirdly, in between the shakes, eat..eat ..eat. Lil bites, wait..do it again. You have got to get your body used to getting nourished. It's a job.

And protein supplements can be bought at Wallyworld for 13 bucks a jug. Nope, it ain't the best out there but a double is 60 grams, it's better than what you are probably getting in all day long if I had to place my bets on it.

Are you having any other problems like swelling in the feet/ankles, shortness of breath, skin breaking down, hair loss, etc..?

Yup all of the above. It is time for my 1 year labs and I plan on doing them next week. Why next week? It's when I have time. I know that I am probably malnurished. And trust me I know that I am the cause of my problems. I pretty much posted this for help and advice and to warn those pre surgical to hopefully develop good habits so that this wont happen to them.
Thanks for your reply

I am sharing my experience, if it sounds tough and rough, it was. It sucks to know that right now as you type that your body is eating itself because you can't afford protein. I wonder how much heart muscle goes for per ounce these days.

The title of this thread is all caps, HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I'm MISRABLE. Let's see, when are you going to go to the Dr ..oh yea...NEXT WEEK. Because you are okay with getting help and you are miserable, just not enough to get help now.

The difference between you and I is that when I waved the white flag, wailed and cried wolf on this very forum, I took the advice. THAT was the best example I could have set for pre-ops.

I know that you have gone through this exact same thing and was actually hoping that you would answer.  When I say I'm going to my doctor I mean Dr. S. I live 3 hrs away from him so I have to plan a trip to Texas. I can't just up and go with work and kids and a husband. Since I hurt my back someone has to drive me because I can't set up without reclining back for 3 hours so that means I have to plan to go when they have time off also. YES I have called them and they are aware of the problems I am having and that's why I'm getting so additional lab work done. I am not a complete idiot. I am very much so aware that the heart and many of our other organs rely alot on protein and luckliy I started to attack this problem when I realized that something was going hella wrrong. So please spare me. When I am asking are ideas about how to get more protein/food in to hopefully reverse the problem that I caused. I know I caused this problem.
Thank you Dustydear for your help

Oh, my gawd.  What an utterly ****ty and disrespectful attitude.

The responses were exactly what you originally asked for.  Possibly, the malnourishment has fogged your comprehension, but you've received NOTHING but helpful responses (except for mine, of course).

So, which way do you want it, honest, or sunshine and rainbows?

Bless your heart, that's exactly what I was trying to do...spare you :)

Are you going to try to persuade me that there are NO DOCTORS in your area who can order labs, the results of which you could post here so that we could discuss and advise you?

Are there NO HOSPITALS where you live that could get you set up with the TPN you probably need to SAVE YOUR LIFE?

I'll bet good money that you are beyond saving yourself with more food by mouth. Besides, you'd need to be chugging the supplements like mad, and you're, oh pardon me, a "picky eater." Well honey, you're going to DIE of your "picky eating" and your unwillingness to take your symptoms seriously.

Maybe the most reliable fix would be a takedown.

I remember when you were all fretting about the picky eating previously, might have been before your surgery. We talked very strongly to you about the necessity of being realistic about what you would have to do in order to survive this surgery. Well, are you going to listen now?

And are you going to adjust your ****ty, snotty attitude any?
