Revision Surgery Tomorrow in NYC
My time has finally come. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 11:30 at Lenox Hill Hospital with Dr. Roslin. I am revising from a RNY to a full DS. I had my final consult with Dr. Roslin on Friday. He talked to me more about the Loop DS. Apparently Dr. Balthasar in Spain has been doing this procedure on revision patients. Dr. Roslin himself has done 3. He is working on getting a grant to do additional research on it. He feels really good about that way of doing it, but I told him that my brain was telling me to do it the way it has been done and the way it seems to be working for other revision patients in my position. He was completely receptive and said "then that's the way we'll do it." I really feel comfortable with Dr. Roslin. He exudes a strong sense of confidence.
He does do his revisions laparoscopically unless he feels there is too much scar tissue and then he will open me up. The procedure should take 3.5 - 5.5 hours. He will keep me NPO for 2-3 days at least.
Wish me luck everyone and a prayer or 2 would be much appreciated. I have 2 beautiful daughters who need their mother to come home to them.
