Okay, I just read this thread www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4423740/over-a-year-out-and-TE RRIBLE-hunger-pain/ , and it started me wondering---how comman are duodenal ulcers in the DS population? Would the symptoms be the same for us, since we're only using a little bit of our duodenum? How are they diagnosed?

Well, I'm guessing here, but I suspect no one knows the incidence of duodenal ulcers in the DS population. Certainly I've never seen any statistics about this. I have no reason to think, though, that it would be any higher than in the non-op population. I would guess that the symptoms would be the same as for anyone else because most duodenal ulcers are in the first portion of the duodenum, which is the part we still have attached to the stomach like everyone else.
As far as diagnosis, finally I don't need to guess - endoscopy.
