Yummy marinade experiment :-)

it has turned into the Mojave Desert in Big Sky Country. Amazingly hot and dry wind blowing like crazy. This is marvelous for making hay and SUCKS for grilling. The fire danger is just too high. Harumph.

Unfortunately, I had already planned the dinner menu around the grill. It worked out fine done on the stove, but would have been nicer from the grill.

Pork loin in a marinade of:

Jack Daniels
brown sugar (Splenda would work fine)
garlic
ginger
soy sauce
hot paprika (any hot red pepper would work)
bit of olive oil
bit of cider vinegar cuz I wasn't sure the acidity was high enough

I let the meat soak for about three hours and think twice as long would have been nicer. This would do beef or chicken--especially thighs--nicely, too.

Served with shrooms and onions sauteed in more butter than I will allow sis and BIL to know about, with garlic and white wine, baked taters and a cucumber-radish salad.

How much Jack Daniels? (And how much did you drink while it was marinating? *grin*)

Jack Daniels is undrinkable *blech*. I suppose it was about half a cup or so, roughly the same amount of soy sauce and a little less olive oil, and about half that much vinegar. This was enough for not quite two pounds of pork loin.

I'm drooling. When are you making this for all of us, Liz?

I love Jack Daniel marinades.  Homemade ones are better than the ones from the store.  Eat some for me.  I'm soo jealous lol
