Pools of 'orange'....

So, I know TMI, but I'm sure DS'ers understand.  I do eat a lot of fat and protein.  I usually go to the bathroom about three times in the morning and it's mostly pools of 'orange' and then what seems like a solid healthy big 's' formed poop but grey and flaky with more orange pooled around it.

I'm a month out on Wednesday and have lost 13 pounds since surgery and several inches.  Is this normal?

Thanks to all you vets out there!!!!

Sounds very similar to what I experienced.  I think the orange is the fat.

Yes it's totally normal to have alot if orange slicks of oil in the potty for the first few months. At least for me that's what I had but dont have it anymore, although I am almost 2.5 years post DS. Good luck

I only had the bright orange droplet looking things when I ate high fat foods. When I tried a little pizza...ugh! Later, a couple bdubs boneless wings....ugh! And it was accompanied with some bloating and discomfort. Those bdubs wings do the same thing to me today.

If you are uncomfortable, then cut down on the fat you eat. If it doesn't bother you, then don't worry about it.

And the color definitely changes. It takes a bit getting used to!

I was told by my surgeon's NP that the orange is for "fake butter and/or margarine" in foods we eat.  I don't eat out very much anymore.  I only get it when I eat out these days.  I use only butter at home.

Thanks all!  I'm not going to worry too much since I don't get bloating and discomfort eating a lot of fat...I'll just have to keep wet wipes with me at all time!indecision

I had my surgery to a DS  from a micro pouch in 2008 and I am STILL doing that! Although I have very runny loose bowel movements all the time. I am still having the "orange" stuff. Its fat & most likely you eat a lot of tomato based products  even catsup will do it.  Good luck on your journey. PS. Don't pass gas! Sometimes when you least expect it, its not just gas!!

Thanks Durinda.  I do eat a lot of fat and tomato products!  Unfortunately I've already experienced the 'faux passing gas'.  Luckily, for me it was in my bed...however, my bedspread was not so lucky!

If anybody has tried Xenical AKA ALLI, you may be familiar with the orange oil. Simply unabasorbed oil and fat. Thanks for the info, didn't know this was going with my RNY.
