1 year

1 year already. The year flew by and I'm very happy with my DS. Never had any complications and I have lost 166 pounds. I'm happy with that huge number, but I'll be honest I hoped for more. I hope to continue losing as others have mentioned they did for years after at a slow pace. I can't help but worry I will not make it to my goal. I've gone from 379 to 213. Being only 5' keeps me chunky. I believe for my height I should be 103 and that seems insane. My goal is 130. Looking forward to another successful year with my DS.

Congrats!  My 1 year anniversary was July 16 and I've lost 104 lbs, with 20 more to goal.  You have done amazingly well.  The nurse at my surgeon's office told me the maximum weight loss window is 18 months, so you are still in that time frame.

I try not to let that 18 month window scare me too much. They all say that but I know many DSers that have lost long after. It comes off slowly, but they still lose so I hope to be one of them.

Congratulations on your success! You have done great, and unlike other surgeries, we don't have a window that closes tightly at 12 - 18 months. You can definitely continue to lose weight, though more slowly. But you have already done well and you look so happy. Good for you.

Larra,  I didn't mean to infer that we would not lose any more after 18 months.  Thankfully that's not the case.  What I meant was with DS, many people lose the majority of weight - but as you said, we can still lose.

What a huge, wonderful, inspiring accomplishment.  Keep a positive attitude and keep up the good work.  In no way should you ever think you "only" lost 166 pounds. That's amazing.
